Advanced Chemical proudly announces Christine Harrington and Jack Livsey as the recipients of the John Venditti Memorial Fund Scholarship, which annually awards $ 2,500 to two high school graduates with strong athletic and academic credentials.

Harrington was a four-year varsity member of her basketball team, a member of the National Honor Society and a mentor at a local elementary school. Livsey was captain of the varsity soccer and basketball teams, a member of the National Honor Society and also coaches a basketball team of foster children. Both will be attending the University of Rhode Island this fall and will be recognized at the John Venditti Memorial Golf Tournament at the Cranston Country Club on Saturday, September 20, 2014.

The scholarship program was started in memory of Advanced Chemical’s long-time employee John Venditti, who served as vice president of sales from 1992 until 2010, when he passed away from undetected heart disease (arteriosclerosis).

“GianFranco ‘John’ Venditti was one of those very rare people whose positive and forthright dealings with family, friends and colleagues left all richer for the experience,” says his memorial fund website. “Those of us who had the good fortune to know John were always touched by his open-heartedness, sincerity and generosity. John was a caring and wonderful family man who engendered goodwill and friendship in all that crossed his path. His loss is immeasurable and he will be deeply missed.”

Because Venditti loved golf, Advanced Chemical created the John Venditti Memorial Golf Tournament, an annual event that benefits the American Heart Association and generates funds for the John Venditti Memorial Fund Scholarships. “The tournament and fund embody everything we loved about John: energy, generosity and passion,” says the memorial fund website.
