When it comes to needling and musculoskeletal sonography there is no substitute for hands-on experience. That’s why Dr. Emily Pineda, lead physician of South Texas Arthritis Care Center will join other experienced faculty in teaching a MSKUS Cadaver Course in musculoskeletal sonography in Fort Worth, TX, Nov. 15 and 16.

The course is a hands-on cadaver course focusing on needle guidance of the extremities, hip and spine. The students will experience a needling technique lecture followed by two-days of hands-on cadaver lab exploring techniques involving the shoulder, elbow, knee, foot and hip. Students will get invaluable hands-on experience along with continuing education credits.

Dr. Pineda possesses the new Registered in Musculoskeletal Sonography (RMSK) credential that raises the standard of musculoskeletal sonography and enhanced patient safety. She’ll share that knowledge of the latest sonography technique as well as her expertise from her many years treating inflammatory diseases.

“The class is exciting because students really get to apply the skills they learn. Having such practical experience is integral to providing excellent patient care,” Dr. Pineda said.

Dr. Pineda is a faculty member of MSKUS, an instructional group of medical professionals that specializes in the basic and advanced instructional education and advancement of musculoskeletal ultrasound guidance. Continuing education like the MSKUS Cadaver Course is a big part of maintaining standards for medical field professionals.
