Datalogic a global leader in Automatic Data Capture and Industrial Automation markets, and world-class producer of bar code readers, mobile computers, sensors, vision systems and laser marking equipment, received the Award Investe São Paulo, a prestigious prize which the State of São Paulo – together with Investe São Paulo, an investment company in São Paulo associated with the Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation – awards to companies which over the years achieve outstanding results in the relevant industries or support the local economy.

The official prize-giving ceremony took place in the historic building Julio Prestes Train Station in São Paulo, in the impressive São Paulo Hall, which hosts the São Paulo State Symphonic Orchestra, in the presence of the most important business personalities, as well as of high-ranking dignitaries from the country’s executive, legislative and judicial authorities.

The prize was awarded to Datalogic directly by the Governor of the State of São Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin, before an over one thousand-strong audience; it is a demonstration of the positive note on which the production activities by the Bologna company started last July in the city of Jundiai, in the district of São Paulo. Investe São Paulo has worked with Datalogic in the search for real estate for a production center during the company’s settlement phase on the Brazilian market. Work in the 2,200 m2 installation started in May this year; this is the first time Datalogic is directly present in Latin America and the structure has been designed to assemble some product lines from the ADC (Automatic Data Capture) division. Moreover, Datalogic Brazil is structured with a view to offering technical assistance and product maintenance services locally, as well as being equipped with a demonstration area where clients and partners can see and test directly all of the latest and most innovative technological solutions.

The granting of the Award Investe São Paulo is a big step forward for Datalogic on the Brazilian market, in addition to the growth in earnings registered by the company in South America. The latest data available report a 40% increase on the part of both divisions compared to the previous year.

Michele Garavello, Operations Director at Datalogic Brazil adds: “It is a great satisfaction for us to have received this award. We are currently one of the few companies in Brazil to be producing at full capacity in the manufacturing industry. This is an investment made by Datalogic with a view to strengthening its local presence and being closer to its customers, by offering products and services at competitive prices, as well as technical assistance throughout the country”.

Romano Volta, Chairman and CEO of the Datalogic Group, is satisfied with the result and concludes: “We feature prominently and are well known in Brazil as one of the most reliable and highly performing brands; as a matter of fact, our Automatic Data Capture (ADC) products are used by 19 out of the 20 largest retail chains in the country. Customer care and investing in the most rapidly growing markets are fundamental factors which characterize us and we are confident that, in a productive region such as Brazil, we will be able to achieve these important goals”.
