Gridlock Ministries, a nonprofit organization that combats human trafficking in North America, has announced the launch of Sweet Sovereignty Gourmet Baking Mixes. (http://www.sweetsovereignty.com)

The new venture features 85 flavors of vegan cake, frosting and mousse mixes that are gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, egg free, soy free, and slave free. Proceeds support programs that serve victims and survivors of human trafficking, and the business will be used as a venue for survivors to learn job skills and receive entrepreneurship training.

Founded in the Chicago area in 2012, Gridlock Ministries now operates offices in New York, San Diego, Toronto and Mexico City and provides services to survivors of human trafficking throughout North America. Beyond conducting rescue operations and providing comprehensive recovery services, Gridlock Ministries offers full community college scholarships to survivors who are physically, emotionally and academically prepared to pursue higher education. In addition, for survivors who demonstrate the drive, discipline and innate characteristics to become successful entrepreneurs, Gridlock Ministries provides an intensive three-year Microenterprise Assistance Program.

“Sweet Sovereignty is one such venture,” explains founder Christine Buckley. “In addition to offering an extraordinary selection of mixes to satisfy every taste and many dietary restrictions, Sweet Sovereignty gives our customers the satisfaction of knowing that their purchases help to end the sexual exploitation and slavery of innocent children.”

It is estimated that up to 325,000 children are trafficked for sex in the US each year.
