The new book by Crystal Etzel, Estel’s Adventures in Grammarcy, ($ 9.99, paperback, 9781498426343; $ 4.99, e-book, 9781498426350) stars a heroic frog who takes children on adventures that teach lessons on friendship, caring, and helping others while also learning about how the English language works. The author’s mission is to help children learn the parts of speech and to have fun doing it. These riveting tales are not just for kids, by the way; Crystal hopes that her book will also appeal to adults that need a refresher in language arts.

“As far as I know there is no other book in print that teaches English grammar rules using fantasy literature,” states the author. “These adventures are something that children will want to read again and again.”

Crystal Etzel is a professor of communication at Onondaga Community College where she teaches public speaking, interpersonal communication, and etiquette. She holds an M.Div as well as a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Public Address. An avid reader, Crystal hopes these stories will encourage kids to join the fun and become lifelong readers themselves. Estel the frog is modeled on a stuffed toy frog that Crystal gave her sister Candace while they were both still in college.
