Philip P. Rosenthal, a well-known healthcare executive, has joined NY Orthopedics as Chief Executive Officer.

Nicholas, MD, Founder and Director of NY Orthopedics. “Phil was the Executive Director of the Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma (NISMAT) at Lenox Hill Hospital, founded by my father, Dr. James A. Nicholas. NISMAT was the first center for sports medicine of its kind in the United States, and Phil was instrumental in directing NISMAT”s growth.”

NY Orthopedics is one of the largest orthopedic group medical practices in the greater New York City area. Founded over twenty years ago by Dr. Stephen J. Nicholas, NY Orthopedics’ physicians have extensive training in sports medicine, hand and upper extremity, total joint reconstruction, spine injuries and disorders. A new Staten Island office joins Manhattan, Scarsdale and Garden City in offering the full spectrum of orthopedic services.

Mr. Rosenthal held senior management positions at Lenox Hill Hospital with increasing responsibility over two decades including Vice President, Operations; Executive Vice President; and Chief Administrative Officer. While serving as Vice President, Operations from 2000 to 2007, Mr. Rosenthal was also appointed Executive Director of Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, when that hospital was acquired by Lenox Hill Hospital in 2000. In 2009, Lenox Hill Hospital joined with the North Shore-LIJ Health System, and Mr. Rosenthal was then appointed Executive Director of Lenox Hill Hospital.

Mr. Rosenthal received his MBA from Columbia University, his MS from Pennsylvania State University and his BA from Hunter College.
