Frederick, MD (PRWEB) June 04, 2015

11% of kindergarteners in Frederick County enter school not fully ready. School-age children lose, on average, about two months of grade level equivalency in math over the summer. Researchers at Duke University, among others, have found that summer learning programs — whether they be for remediation, enrichment, or acceleration — can have a significant positive impact on preventing this “summer slide.” If you are wrestling with the puzzle: What do I do with my kids this summer? or Will my little one be ready for the increasing demands of kindergarten?, you’re not alone. Most parents no doubt consider sports camps, swim team, and many other active pursuits to keep their children’s bodies fit over the summer. But, what about their brains? How do we keep those engaged and active through the lazy days of summer?
