Burlington, MA (PRWEB) June 11, 2015

In an effort to have all campers feel included and accepted, Wizards & Warriors and Zombie Summer Camps, operated by Guard Up inc. and The Story School, now offer Gender Neutral Housing as the default for all of their campers at their overnight summer camp. Gender specific housing is available and may be requested by parents.

Guard Up inc. takes the lead from the State of Massachusetts and the new laws surrounding nondiscrimination based on gender identity. As such, Guard Up Family Swordsmanship and The Story School Summer Camps offer a gender-neutral housing system as of the summer of 2015, where space for gender-neutral housing is provided alongside the existing male and female dormitories.

What is gender-neutral housing?

Gender-neutral housing assignments refer to sleeping room assignments where the summer camp may place campers and staff of any gender identification to reside. Parents who wish to have their child housed in gender specific housing may opt to do so by submitting a request form.

What will staffing for gender-neutral housing look like?

Gender neutral cabins will be supervised by both male and female staff.

How will bathrooms be handled?

Since our bathrooms have private stalls, we will provide bathroom time in accordance with the Massachusetts state law which mandates that a child or adult must be allowed access to a restroom according to the gender with which they identify. We will also be providing gender neutral bathrooms for people who are not comfortable with either boy or girl gender.

How will shower time be handled?

Since our showers have private stalls and changing areas, we will provide shower time in accordance with the Massachusetts state law which mandates that a child or adult must be allowed access to a shower according to the gender with which they identify. We will also be providing gender neutral shower time for people who are not comfortable with either boy or girl gender.

Wizards & Warriors and Zombie Summer Camps are educational summer camp based out of out of Burlington and Waltham, MA, that use story-based adventures to teach children academics and life lessons. Campers play characters in an ongoing adventure where they fight monsters and zombies with foam swords and Nerf Blasters while solving mysteries and gaining special skills. The premise of the camp is to provide live educational and exciting adventures that mimics a computer game – but without the computers. Kids and teens ages 7 and up learn physics in order to cast spells, biology in order to heal from battles, chemistry so that they can make potions, and more.
