Shmoop Expands Offerings for Spanish-Speaking Students and Their Teachers

Mountain View, California (PRWEB) April 21, 2015

There’s no question about it: bilingual education is a hot-button issue. In California, public school instruction is mostly restricted to English, while in Texas, bilingual education is mandatory. Despite the many opinions, the facts remain the same: there are 4.4 million English Language Learners (ELLs) in American schools, and that number isn’t getting any smaller. Shmoop University (http://www.shmoop.com), a digital publisher aiming to make learning fun, is expanding its materials en español to help these students and their teachers achieve their goals—or their metas, as the case may be.

“We don’t expect everyone to agree on the future of bilingual education,” says Ellen Siminoff, President and CEO of Shmoop. “Our goal is to provide the breadth and depth of resources necessary for any English Language Learner to succeed.”

Sure enough, Shmoop’s resources cover all the bases. To help ELLs prepare for the always-dreaded standardized tests, Shmoop offers premium test prep in Spanish for the SAT® and ACT® exams, the GED® test, and the CAHSEE, as well as English-language Texas EOC prep, with discounts available for schools and districts. They also have loads of free resources: English-Spanish flashcard sets to facilitate bilingual fluency; a guide describing the differences between English and Spanish grammar, idioms, and more; and Why’s This Funny?, clickable “pins” that explain Shmoop’s jokes, pop culture references, and idioms.

Shmoop’s page for English Language Learners organizes these and other materials, including hundreds of Spanish-language and subtitled videos, as well as literature guides that incorporate Shmoop’s trademark humor. In the coming months, Shmoop will continue to provide more teacher support along with more literature guides for books commonly assigned in AP® Spanish Literature and Culture classes. Step aside, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, and Poe: Borges, Allende, and Neruda are about to come onto the scene.

Chuck Gray Joins Enterprise Integration as Director of Professional Services to Enhance and Improve Client Service Offerings

Jacksonville, Florida (PRWEB) April 30, 2015

Enterprise Integration (EI) is pleased to announce the addition of Chuck Gray as Director of Professional Services. Gray joins EI with 19 years’ experience in Professional Services and Sales. Gray will partner with EI’s Associate Vice President of Strategic Mid-Tier Accounts, Steve Giovanni, to drive improvements within client infrastructures and promote the vast portfolio of Professional Service offerings.

Traditionally, EI’s core business has been delivering full managed services to locally headquartered businesses. However, with the intimate knowledge of their complex IT infrastructures and the resource cost controls, not all businesses may require fully managed services. They may only require a subset of the service offerings (i.e. – Operations Control Services or Engineer Services.)

By assessing and identifying the pain points, Chuck and Steve will be able to provide an affordable, tactical solution to redirect their focus back to what matters to them most, driving their business forward.

“I am looking forward to working with Steve and his experienced team to position ourselves as a best in class service to our customers and prospects,” Gray said. “There is no doubt the partnership will drive new opportunities, revenue and the client experience.”

Giovanni agrees: “I am truly excited about the experience Chuck brings to the table and the opportunities we can drive together,” he said. “Chuck’s team is the perfect vehicle for us to deliver great technology projects to our existing client-base, which is both increased revenue for us and improved solutions for them; a true win-win.”
