The first patented, multi award winning, health and fitness board game has also caught the attention of the Georgia Department of Public Health and has been selected as one of their Power Up for 30 Champions. LunchBox Kids will receive statewide recognition as a Power Up for 30 Champion to educators across Georgia during the 2014-2015 school year.

This one of a kind patented health and fitness board game inspires children ages 6 and up to live healthy lifestyles and has achieved numerous awards within the past 10 months which include:

Top 14 products for 2014, After School Today Magazine

Dr. Toy Top 10 Games

Dr. Toy 100 Best Toys

The National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval

The game is currently being implemented in elementary schools and after school programs nationwide with Austin, Texas ISD leading the way. Michele Rusnak, M.Ed., Physical and Health Education Supervisor, Austin ISD says, “The LunchBox Kids board game is an excellent resource to use in the gym and to share with teachers as part of the campus’ Coordinated School Health efforts. The game focuses on nutritional and physical activity. It is perfect to support reading literacy. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the entire LunchBox Kids team. They are most definitely changing the attitudes of others.”

Teachers, parents and fitness professionals like the inclusive and versatile approach to the game. It is excellent for the classroom, PE, or at home. Being cross-curricular, it aligns with many state requirements like TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) and uses the multiple intelligence aspects of learning (Visual-Spatial, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Interpersonal, Linguistic, Intrapersonal, and Logical-Mathematical).

CEO/inventor and fitness trainer, Liz Northcutt, says, “The game is all about trying to get on a kid’s level, where children can learn about health and fitness all on their own. The game teaches them about cardiovascular disease, diabetes, LDL and HDL cholesterol, calories, muscles, bones, whole foods, processed foods, junk foods, macro-nutrients and how to make their body strong through exercise and good eating habits. By tapping into a child’s imagination using a board game as a focal point for fitness, I have witnessed an extreme response from the kids for a willingness to learn how to live a healthy LunchBox Kids Lifestyle!”

The game involves earning golden tickets by rolling the food dice and landing on game spaces with trivia and fitness prompts; answering health and fitness questions from the 400 pop quiz cards and performing exercise challenges such as push-ups, crunches, jumping jacks, frog jumps, stretches, and more. The game incorporates 17 funny fantasy characters that the children of today can relate to. “Using the game characters as role models is what brings the fantasy and inspiration alive in the child’s mind, ” says Liz Northcutt. “It is also a great family fitness game. I have had so many parents and children thank me for creating such a positive toy.”

With childhood obesity being a nationwide epidemic, the LunchBox Kids board game tackles the problem by making fitness fun and gives the children a platform and tool to learn on their own. Liz Northcutt says, “Now that we have created such a positive buzz within the school systems our next focus will be acquiring more retail distribution channels so more families can enjoy a fun game, get a great workout and learn about health together!”
