Power Distribution, Inc. (PDI), a part of the Smiths Power family of brands, has broadened its product portfolio by developing new and innovative products for mission critical applications. In 2014, PDI has launched five new products in recognition of fast changing customer needs. The new products are described below and will be showcased at 7X24’s Fall Conference in Phoenix, Arizona on October 26 – 29, 2014.

800Amp PowerWave Bus System – an extension to PDI’s busway family that supports high density loads and reduces installation time by up to 40 percent. This product, compatible with PDI’s power monitoring system, incorporates a new patent pending rail splice technology that provides an industry leading 9-inch keep-out area for increased flexibility in the installation of tap-off boxes.

2000Amp WaveStar® Static Transfer Switch – an extension of the WaveStar® product family that provides seamless and reliable power transfers for high density critical loads. This product uses a compact enclosure design to minimize the footprint while keeping PDI’s monitoring and triple redundancy logic built-in. It also offers both Power Or Gate Mode (POG) for quarter-cycle power transfer and patented Volt Second Synchronization Mode (VSS) that limits 1.5 times in-rush even in 180 degrees out-of-phase transfer.

500kVA PowerHub® 2 Power Distribution Unit – this second generation PowerHub® 2 Power Distribution Unit in the 500kVA category has an innovative modularized design offering quality welded bus build and line-and-match with the 2000Amp WaveStar® Static Transfer Switch. This product was designed to accommodate a wide range of breakers to meet different needs, and offers no more than a three week production lead-time.

Next Generation JCOMM® Branch Circuit Monitoring System – a third generation installer friendly JCOMM® solution offering PDI’s patented branch circuit monitoring in all mounting applications for most manufacturer’s panel boards or sub-feeds. This product includes a pre-engineered cabling system to decrease installation time by up to 40 percent. It also provides a built-in communications interface for Modbus, SNMP, and TCP/IP protocols.

WaveStar® Color Touch Monitor – a 7-inch high resolution color touchscreen, displays power monitoring information for up to twenty downstream branch circuit monitoring system devices. This product offers communications interface for Modbus, SNMP, and TCP/IP protocols, and it is compatible with PDI’s power distribution units, remote power panels and JCOMM solutions. “PDI is committed to helping its customers with the increasing demands of data center density,” said Tom Kritzell, President, Smiths Power. “We continue to invest in product development and innovation to ensure we remain a solution provider for our valued customers,” said Kritzell.

“The 7X24 Exchange Marquis Plus Partner Showcase is a great way for sponsors like PDI to showcase their new products and give their team an opportunity to meet experienced data center owners face to face. We are happy to have them participate in this one of a kind event,” said Bob Cassiliano, President, 7X24 Exchange.
