“This represents a significant step forward in the automated reprocessing of the da Vinci Endowrist instruments for the US market.” stated Charles Ciullo, Director of Sterile Processing for Potomac Labs. “This validation study was carried out in order to prove that a combined manual pre-cleaning and automatic process using Borer deconex process chemistry with a custom washer rack and da Vinci cycle in a washer-disinfector succeeds in cleaning artificially soiled da Vinci Endowrist instruments to a level consistently below 100 µg / instrument” added Mr. Ciullo.
The study demonstrated that following the manual pre-cleaning protocol described in the ISI reprocessing instructions combined with a comparatively short washer-disinfector process, the most difficult to clean DaVinci instruments could be successfully cleaned. This was realized by using a mildly alkaline enzymatic detergent system deconex®TWIN PH10/deconex®TWIN ZYME and a custom washer rack and da Vinci cycle in a washer-disinfector.
