Renowned for its robustness, BitCo’s fibre network is one of few which is lit and maintained by the tier one Internet Service provider. This allows BitCo to independently and solely control traffic on the circuit, providing a guaranteed service.

Complimented by BitCo’s extensive Microwave Metro Ethernet network, businesses in South Africa’s economic hub can also be rapidly connected. Wireless services can be installed as a temporary measure while the fibre is being arranged. The lead times for which can be as low as three weeks.

BitCo’s existing wireless customer base is one step closer to fibre now. Many have already made the switch.

The fibre ring expands around greater Johannesburg. Reaching from Isando through JHB CBD as far as Midrand, Centurion and everything in-between. However, Johannesburg is not the only city BitCo is servicing. Durban North and Rondebosch are among strategically chosen locations where BitCo is increasing their footprint.

This feat is a milestone towards BitCo’s ultimate goal to build a fully redundant, high capacity, high availability, fault tolerant scalable voice and Internet Network. With close to 1 000km of lit fibre, they are edging nearer to realising their goal of reaching a virtually unlimited number of customers. A plan which has been in play for the past 6 years.

Completion of the ring further enables BitCo to build on the considerable success of their Smart Community offering which connects business parks and residential communities efficiently to fibre at lower than industry average rates.

Jarryd Chatz, Business Development Director of BitCo states, “We are now able to offer 100Mbps plus links on fibre, enabling BitCo to compete in the ever changing telecommunications landscape. By rolling out this ultra-high capacity network we are in-line with our trend of more than doubling our data traffic year on year and creating a first class carrier grade redundant network.”
