Gotham’s Drew Powell Shares Future for His Character Butch and What It’s Like Acting with Jada Pinkett Smith on Maria Menounos’ AfterBuzz TV

In a recent interview on E! host Maria Menounos’ online broadcast network, AfterBuzz TV, actor Drew Powell who plays Butch Gilzean on Fox’s Gotham, sat down with hosts J.J. Jurgens and Nando Velasquez.
Powell discussed his role as the original character stating, “What’s fun is we get to be this new character that slides into this world that we all know and love.” Powell shares a lot of screen time with co-star Jada Pinkett Smith. “With Jada and I, Fish and Butch, we’ve had this kinda chemistry from day one and it’s been so much fun to play. I think she’s amazing and they’ve kinda gone with that and I think that’s been a cool thing to watch them,” says Powell.
Powell states the fans have “been so generous with us and just on board. We’re doing our best to marry the old with the new. It’s so gratifying and it’s such a great feeling to know that they’re with us.”
Powell also touched on the future of his character. “Butch, you don’t know where it’s going to go with him. There’s this beautiful tender moment he has, I won’t say with who or what, and it was so much fun to play that juxtaposed with shooting my buddy in the face.”
Gotham fans will have a lot to look forward to as he says, “It’s gonna be a fun ride all the way to 22 (episode).”
Powell has been a guest star on numerous shows including Ray Donovan, Modern Family and The Mentalist and can be seen in the upcoming film Geostorm with Gerard Butler.
