The Center Disease Control reports addiction and overdose deaths related to painkillers are on a steep rise with nearly three out of four prescription drug overdoses having been caused by opioid pain relievers. These drugs were involved in over 16,000 overdose deaths in 2010 (the year for which data is currently available), more than cocaine and heroin combined.

Not only do we have a runaway prescription drug problem here in the U.S., but it also seems to be failing to keep us healthy and free of pain.

Hands-On Seminars co-founder Konstantine Rizopoulos noted that Prescription drugs and invasive procedures such a surgery are linked to many complications, poor outcomes and even death. Research shows that Manual Physical Therapy offers the most cost effective treatment of pain and other musculoskeletal problems.

“The research points to manual physical therapy as a key answer to the problem” agrees Dr. Dimitrios Kostopoulos co-founder of Hands-On Seminars.

Backing up their research with action, Drs. Rizopoulos and Kostopoulos are offering scholarships to any Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant or Physical Therapy Student who meets the application requirements.

“We are taking this initiative because we want to give the opportunity to Physical Therapists to expand their knowledge and expertise in manual therapy and this way they can make an even greater difference in the lives of their patients” continued Dr. Kostopoulos.

Hands-On Seminars, Inc.
