MALVERN, PA (PRWEB) March 16, 2015

HMP Communications Holdings, LLC (HMP), a leader in healthcare communications and education, announced today that the journal WOUNDS: A Compendium of Clinical Research and Practice will now be indexed in the National Library of Medicine’s (NLM) MEDLINE® database. According to the NLM, this online bibliographic citation database is used internationally to provide access to the world’s biomedical journal literature.

“This accomplishment recognizes the value of the journal to wound care clinicians worldwide,” said Barbara Drosey, Managing Editor, WOUNDS. “Inclusion in the MEDLINE database means clinicians will have ready access to the journal’s content for use in research and clinical practice.”

Indexing was achieved following a rigorous application process during which WOUNDS was reviewed by the NLM’s Literature Selection Technical Review Committee (LSTRC), which meets 3 times a year. At each meeting, the LSTRC reviews approximately 190 titles, 20%-25% of which are selected for indexing.

“This achievement is the culmination of hard work by many people,” added Terry Treadwell, MD, FACS, Clinical Editor, WOUNDS. “This should further validate the journal as a leader for wound care information for all practitioners. We hope the increased visibility this will afford the journal will encourage practitioners at all levels of experience and expertise to publish their work in WOUNDS.”

With indexed content on MEDLINE, WOUNDS joins more than 24 million citations for biomedical literature, life science journals, and online books.

“WOUNDS’ achievement helps fulfill the need for an indexed physician wound care journal,” said Jeremy Bowden, Vice President, Wound Care Division, HMP Communications. “We are proud our years of dedication to this niche have been recognized.”
