Appleton, WI (PRWEB) February 12, 2015

A popular Valentine’s Day tradition in Downtown Appleton since 2003, the 12th annual Death by Chocolate taste-testing event will again be presented to a sell-out crowd.

The afternoon of February 14 features a variety of chocolate concoctions – from delectable sides and drinks to desserts – at 20 different restaurants, bars and coffee houses along the one-mile stretch of Downtown Appleton. Tickets allow participants to sample these tasty treats at any of the designated locations or take the “Death by Chocolate Challenge” and try all 20 of them.

Organized by Appleton Downtown, Inc. (ADI) and sponsored by IPS Testing, Death by Chocolate is just one of several fun-filled events to take place throughout the year in Downtown Appleton.

“Not only does this event showcase some of the talents of our local chefs, but it also provides Downtown businesses with a nice boost in foot traffic,” said Anne Wiegman, ADI marketing director.

Death by Chocolate is one of the first ADI events to kick off 2015 with other favorites like Mini Golf on the Town, Ladies Day, Giving Hope and Soup Walk to follow. ADI will also play host to many popular recurring events this year, including Art on the Town and the Summer Concert Series, as well as the Downtown Appleton Farm Market on Saturdays and new Mid-Week Farm Market on Wednesdays. Along with all of these calendar highlights, the four-day Mile of Music festival will return in August.

“We are hearing that people love the variety of events offered Downtown,” Wiegman said. “These experiences provide a fun taste of Downtown to visitors and expose them to some really neat community businesses in the process.”

Of the items on the 2015 Death by Chocolate menu, attendees will have the chance to try black velvet cake, chocolate covered cannoli and chocolate martinis. The Downtown Trolley will make a special appearance to provide event-goers with transportation to participating venues.

“It’s going to be a delicious day,” Wiegman said. “We encourage people to bring their appetites!”
