Stryker hip lawsuits (http://www.strykerhiprecallclaims.com/) filed on behalf of individuals who were allegedly injured by Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular Neck Hip Stems continue to progress in a multicounty litigation now underway in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to a notice posted on the Court’s calendar, the proceeding’s next Case Management Conference has been scheduled for November 12, 2014. The Conference will commence at 1:00 p.m. in Judge Brian Martinotti’s court room 359. (In Re Stryker Rejuvenate Hip Stem and the ABG II Modular Hip Stem Litigation, No. 296)

“Our Firm is representing numerous Stryker hip recall plaintiffs who have filed claims in this proceeding. We are pleased to see it progressing, and look forward to next month’s conference,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is offering free and confidential case evaluations to individuals who were allegedly injured by these metal implants, and may be eligible to file a lawsuit.

Stryker Hip Lawsuits

According to court documents, a total of 2,118 Stryker hip lawsuits had been filed in Bergen County Superior Court as of October 2nd. These lawsuits were filed on behalf of patients implanted with Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems subjected to recall in 2012. All of the complaints allege that failure of the hip stems caused chronic pain, metallosis, osteolysis, tissue necrosis, and other complications that in many cases necessitated revision surgery to remove and replace the implant. The lawsuits also accuse Stryker Orthopaedics of failing to adequately test the devices before bringing them to market, and neglecting to warn patients and doctors about their risks prior to the July 2012 recall.

In addition to the claims pending in New Jersey, court records indicate that over 1,700 lawsuits involving the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip replacements have also been filed in a federal multidistrict litigation that is currently underway in the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota. (In re: Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, No. 244)

The Stryker hip recall was announced by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration on July 6, 2012, after it was determined that fretting and corrosion of the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems places recipients at risk for adverse local tissue reactions, pain and swelling. In the wake of the announcement, Stryker advised on its website that all hip recipients should undergo routine medical testing and cross-sectional imaging to monitor for signs of early hip failure.*

Individuals who were allegedly harmed by Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems may be eligible to file their own Stryker hip lawsuit. Learn more about Stryker hip lawsuits when you visit Bernstein Liebhard LLP’s website, or call 800-511-5092 to arrange for a free, no-obligation case review.
