WARRENDALE, Pa. (PRWEB) March 02, 2015

A new, free 60-Minute presentation from SAE International will explore the essential elements of accurately predicting engine emissions.

Accurate Simulation of Engine Emissions” is scheduled for March 26 at 10:30 a.m. U.S. EDT. The webcast is hosted by ANSYS and presented by SAE International.

Designing new high-efficiency, low-emissions IC engines presents technical challenges that are often dominated by the chemical kinetics that occur during combustion. Consequently, simulations of combustion for enhanced engine designs need good fuel-combustion chemistry and combustion models. This webcast will provide insights into four elements that are essential in engine combustion CFD in order to predict NOx and soot emissions accurately. They are:

Comprehensive Fuel Models: Precise fuel chemistries are necessary for combustion simulations because motor fuels are very complex.

Detailed Kinetics: Modeling methods that can efficiently handle a large number of reaction mechanisms are essential for critical combustion behaviors such as ignition, flame propagation, and pollutant formation.

Spray Models: Mesh independent spray models are necessary as spray calibration data is not available a priori in upfront simulation.

Auto Ignition Models: Auto ignition models are essential for predicting knocking.

Webcast attendees will be invited to interact with the experts during a question and answer session.

Speakers will include:

Ellen Meeks, Ph.D., Director, Combustion and Chemistry Development, Ansys

Sandeep Sovani, Ph.D., Director, Global Automotive Industry, Ansys
