A few things I don’t understand. I get what they are saying about those
small particles acting as if they are doing two completely different things
but I don’t get what that means for real life as we are looking at it now.
For example If I don’t look at my arm I know my arm is still there, if I
look at my arm my arm is still my arm. My question is so what if its true
what does that mean about real life that we view because I don’t understand
how they think that changes what I am seeing because we already know that
our computer is going to be sitting at home reguarldess if we look at it or
not.
The other thing I don’t understand is why the hell people in the comments
are arguing over god lololol. Who really gives a shit, I seriously don’t
get why people even cry about what someone believes in because there is no
point. My point is why are you derps going to far out of your way to try to
change someones mind about what they want to think, its like your taking
your daily time out of your life because its making you butthurt that
someone can choose to think how they want.
Comment section is funny for all the people whining over each other and
what they think. Pretty sure all of us sane people in the comment section
can careless about if you want to believe in your brain we are just here to
watch the video and understand wtf they are talking about because I still
don’t get how it relates to what we visually see outside of subatomic
particles.
BTW I still believe in god and I know science is mostly factual besides
some things that can’t be explained. My point is that all science does for
me is further prove to me god exist in my mind or would only explain to me
how god has done things. For example we can clone humans if we wanted to so
its as if you know how to make a human or you would know how someone or
something made a human based on science showing you how its done or a way
to do it.

The problem is that the instant we identify and determine the actions of
matter, by our very determination, it will change and become a different
action. We can never know because knowing will change what can be known and
therefore what we know will be invalid.

What is “looking”? What is “measuring”?
Current observation methods in quantum physics are invasive and literally
are interfering with the measured event or so called particle. Of course it
behaves different…
Things will really get going when scientists stop confusing between matter
and energy even if they are, basically, the same thing in different
packaging.
But first: observations whit out interfering. Then talk about magical
subatomic particles. …which are not particles unless they form an atom.
Quantum physics is hard enough to understand without documentaries
misrepresenting the reality. For example, at 12:51, the video gives the
impression that a single electron when passing through the double slit
leaves an interference pattern. It does not – it impacts the detector
(screen) as a single particle. The interference pattern is only observed
after many particles are detected. They do not need to be fired all at
once, however, so it is not that they are interfering with each other. But
it is the probability of detection at the screen locations that is
interfering.
“There was nothing and then bang” – is the most far fetched bullshit theory
in existence. So-called rational science asks that we give them one free
miracle, then they will explain the rest! :)

single or a few particles being in more than one place at a time due to
their behaviour but not humans or anything else on the macroscopic level. I

a light particle, which is how we see in the first place. But, I also
figured that it might very well be possible that there may be infinitely
smaller particles the more capable you are of detecting them.

For that experiment where something can be in two places at the same time
have they tried being on the wall and looking towards the particle as it’s
fired? If they place an observer on the wall that the particle will hit
between the two openings so it can not see where the particle was fired
from. I would assume you would be able to see which hole the particle will
enter from. The particle now has the choice to enter the hole of it’s
choosing which they are saying will be both since it is not observed from
the start.

therefore we the observer are always slightly behind the “now” moment of
time where the universe subatomic structure is the now , so to is
consciousness and quantum are one and the same , the time it takes for
cognition seems fast but at the instant now moment in time it is a long way
behind it, so we actually are always slightly in the past , dark matter is
just space , bloody hell nothing is needing for something to vibrate and
spin in, as for the big bang , my personal opinion is that is a crock of
shit, if indeed our lil planet and solar system is slowly being pulled in
toward a great mass in the centre of our galaxy then would it not appear
that any cosmic body outside of our galactical fuzzy band would be
expanding ,, the universe is infinite and eternal, life is caught in the
persistence of time , no need to apply it to the universe…
What a bunch of nonsense… Because we can’t really see what is happening
we make up a bunch of superstitious bull shit..
quantum mechanics is esothery for probabilities, a bad esothery. I wonder
how they observe a quantum state if they can’t actually observe quantum
states. I’m pretty sure quantum entanglement is a prejudice, a bad
interpretation all thanks to the bad esothery of quantum mechanics
I could sit and watch this kind of stuff for hours on end.

Brian really did a great job as moderator
Here’s a really interesting discussion on four different takes on quantum
mechanics. It’s a bit slow to get started but picks up speed when they get
into each viewpoint. (Read more for my take, but watch the video first if
you’re going to.)
I don’t have the math skills for any of this, but I’ve been
reading/watching lay discussions on it since I was a kid. I came into this
video with just two options in mind, Copenhagen and Many-worlds, and
favored Many-worlds. After watching this, I think I still favor many-words
but it’s not quite so clear.
The Spontaneous Collapse theory is really interesting because it makes
potentially testable predictions that are different from the rest. I’d be
happy to accept it if those experiments can be run and show that it’s
correct, but for now it sounds like a hack.
I didn’t realize that the Pilot Wave (“guide wave” in this video) theory
of de Broglie was still alive and kicking. I like it because it has a
certain elegance to it, and it makes the same predictions that we’d
currently expect, so it’s not too weird. It’s also easy on the mind
because particles remain particles. I wish there was a better way to
distinguish it from Many-worlds than just which theory is easier to
swallow. Quite possibly, I just don’t understand these things well enough.
Many-worlds is still my favorite, but maybe it’s just because it’s the most
fun theory in my mind. It makes all of the standard predictions, and it’s
really simple–everything is a wave-function, including me. Maybe at the
end of the day, the best theory is the one that’s easiest to incorporate
into your intuitions (everything else remaining equal).
QBism (pronounced “cubism” for maximum confusion) seems like an entirely
different beast. I like that it brings more Bayes into Physics, but when
you’re talking about agents and beliefs, I’m not sure you’re really talking
about Physics any more. It sounds like the theory has been fruitful in
advancing the field, it just seems like we haven’t found the right way to
describe what the theory means.
Good God, the guy just to Brian’s left can talk for hours and say almost
nothing. They should have just deleted him and let the Gordon’s Fisherman
field all his questions.
These 4 interpretations are just the ones “someone” in the mainstream
academic community considered worth discussing.
That “someone” represents an elite group of academics which have their own
ideas about the world and their own “agenda”.
How many equaly valid theories are out there? How many better theories are
out there?
Is there already “the one”, which gives an answer to the question “how?”
and at the same time also answers the “why?”.
Sure there is – just check out Tom Campbell on youtube and watch for
example his Calgary lecture videos.
Caroll at the end was correct – 97 scientists will come to a consensus –
they always do. It is called herd mentality.. Will it be the correct
theory, or just the most popular one?

Very interesting. I think I actually got a rough idea of what they were
talking about. I wish I had a deeper understanding of the mathematics.
The probability of a 6 faced dice throw to land on a (2) is 1/6
after it has landed on a (4), the chance of which for it to land again on a
(2) is 1/6
Do they not understand the meaning of “the probability of being found
there?”
Once you find it there, it decides its there, the wavefunction has
collapsed, but the probability is still the same, albeit it cannot be
applied to the same atom again.
I’m absolutely thrilled to see David Albert up there, especially after he
was unceremoniously disinvited from the “Nothingness Conference” by Neil
deGrasse Tyson two years ago following his very public dispute with
physicist Larwence Krauss (in which Albert was absolutely in the right
IMO). This intellectual gem of a man really deserves all the speaking time
he gets.
Rüdiger Schack, alas, was painfully misplaced as a panelist. Not because of
his contributions to the interpretation of quantum theory or any lack
thereof, but because he is a terrible public speaker – especially compared
to Albert, Goldstein and Carroll.
Quantum mechanics cannot be understood unless we visualize design and
principle on which quantum particle exist and how and why they go to form
atomic system. Science has failed to perceive and differentiate atomic
matter and light matter or energy particle. We need imaginations to
perceive the truth of how particle exist dancing and from atoms and from
bigger systems

Try “My Big Toe” by Thomas Campbell theory. It explains much more and much
simplistic way and way more elegant that was presented here. Here you had
only intelectual content without understanding of main cause of all that –
that is you, an me – the observer that is awareness (process of being aware
and not being any physical object or not having form) <= that is you and me 🙂 So... you and me being process of observation (experiencer) we are "making" all happen, in the end, without the one asking question about what is going on, there will never be a answer, right?! We are the universe we are experiencing it, not separated from it, we are it, the process of experiencing information we are creating + the rules to make it homogeneous and consistent, to not get lost in the "game".
