Stryker hip lawsuits (http://www.injurybeacon.com/hip-replacement/stryker/lawsuit/) filed in the wake of the 2012 Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular-Neck Hip Stem Recall continue to move forward in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to documents filed in the proceeding, the Court has issued a Final Amended Stipulated Protective Order of Confidentiality governing any and all hard copy and electronic materials produced by any party in the litigation that are designated as “Confidential Discovery Materials.” Among other things, the July 8th Order is intended to facilitate prompt discovery and preparation for trial of Stryker hip recall claims pending in the proceeding. “Our Firm has filed a number of Stryker hip lawsuits in Bergen County Superior Court on behalf of our clients. We are pleased to see these cases moving forward,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free legal evaluations to individuals were allegedly harmed by Stryker’s Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular-Neck Hip Stems.

Stryker Hip Recall Litigation

Court documents indicate that more than 2,060 Stryker hip lawsuits are pending in the New Jersey litigation. All of the claims allege that patients fitted with Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems are at risk for serious complications, including metallsosis, osteolysis, tissue necrosis and need for revision surgery. Plaintiffs further claim that complications associated with the recalled components often result in permanent disability, even after a malfunctioning device has been removed and replaced.

In addition to the Stryker hip recall claims pending in New Jersey, court records show that nearly 1,700 similar claims have been filed in a federal multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota. (In re: Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, No. 244)

The Stryker hip recall was announced in July 2012 after Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems were found to be vulnerable to high rates of fretting and corrosion at the modular-neck junction. Stryker his since advised all patients fitted with these devices to undergo medical screening, as an absence of symptoms does not necessarily mean the implant is functioning correctly.*

Individuals who were allegedly harmed by Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems may be eligible to file their own Stryker hip lawsuit. To learn more about the Stryker hip recall, please visit Bernstein Liebhard LLP’s website, or call 800-511-5092 to arrange for a free, no-obligation case review.
