Z-Wave Plus products are fully backward compatible and interoperable with standard Z-Wave products. Z-Wave Plus is a certification program for smart home devices developed for the 500 Series hardware platform (5th generation Z-Wave). Z-Wave Plus certified products feature richer feature sets; 50 percent longer range; 67 percent lower power consumption; 400 percent larger memory footprint; and a 250 percent higher data rate, among other advanced capabilities. All certified products are fully backward compatible with product based on earlier versions of Z-Wave, and are fully interoperable between brands.
